Saturday Blues in Sodak Land

The truth is the weather sucks. It is cold. The high here today was about 45 with about a 30 mph wind. It was snowing at times. Just little flurries but it still was snowing.

We kinda lounged today. The kids soccer games were cancelled due to the crappy weather.
I bought a new shirt, tie, and shoes to match my new suit. Looking good. Now someone has to get married or something to allow some usage of this thing.

#1 got back from Arizona with MIL. She had a great time. Lots of memories were made.
Thanks to the Mitchell MIL for taking her along. Shout out to Mary.

The boat saga continues. They got the whole floor tore out and they think they have the trouble area identified. Should be fixed this week they tell me. I have heard this for 4 weeks straight so I am not holding my breath. What a joint. Never will be returning to this place again.

#1 just got a ribbon for her entry into the SD duckstamp contest for kids. A Canadian goose picture. It was pretty good.

Purchased a new Toro mower this past week. Traded in the piece of crap Craftsman job. What a pleasure to mow with the new mower. No more pulling it 50 times to start it, no more having to adjust the height of the left front wheel, and no more bogging down in the thick stuff.
Another truth - Craftsman stuff is crap. I have had trouble with nearly everything that has said Craftsman on it. Water heater, snowblower, mower, ratchets, and cordless screwdrivers and drills.
No more baby. Never going to step foot into another Sears. Can you say Porter Cable, Dewalt, and Ridgid?

Shout out to Nesser who is probably doing something I should be helping with at this very moment. I am watching Eli down here though.

Friday - TGIF I'm Back

Well another interesting week in the books. I hit the big city (Minneapolis) this week. Nothing too exciting. Went to a vendor then I did a few meetings at the big campus in St. Paul. Visited the sister-in-law. SBG was tooo busy to have supper.

This week #1 is in Sedona with MIL. So far so good. We miss her.

Tomorrow is soccer in the big town. I-man and MadDog are preparing to kick some tail. I-man is off to another good season. 3 goals last game.

My boat is yet to be fixed. Not looking good. Water is running in through a crack they can't seem to find. Dollar signs are spinning in my head.

Going to have a rootbeer float and then watch some news. Big plans eh?

T-dogs bite. Twins just win baby.

Butch-isms - tribute

I read with great interest the Natron's World tribute to Butch. Very well done. A few other classic Butchisms.

Other fond memories....

Dad rolling up in the chopper to watch the Merchants. (Our only fan). I will admit that I was somewhat embarrassed by the bandana and chaps but everyone else thought it was cool that their old man took the time to ride the chopper to the games and support the world famous Merchants.

Dad unveiling the new Harley with that picture of the naked woman on the gas tank. Yeah we know you promised to have that thing painted but you never quite got a round to it.

Hearing Dad above everyone else at those basketball games he painstakingly attended.
Hearing Dad at church with his voice reciting prayers. Loud enough to drown out Mrs Kelly who was two or three words behind everyone else.

Getting a chance to have lunch with Dad at work with his buddies at their makeshift break area. Seeing Dad with his skull cap on, styling leathers, and cool glasses with the tinted side shields.

There are too many memories to print tonight but I thought you might like some of these.

As I think back on all the years you sweated out a living for the family I sure appreciated the effort. Take care and enjoy making new memories with the grandkids, the old kids, and your partner (you know Mom).

Easter

Happy Easter to you all. The fam is at home this weekend. Enjoying (sort of) the relaxation of home. Went to Mitchell, SD yesterday to visit the MIL. Denster made some good pork on the Holland Grill. Looked at their plans to build onto their house. Should be nice.

#1 sang in church this morning. She sang loud and proud. Very proud of her. She was the cantor for the Alleluia. Complete with hand gesture to signal when you were to sing.

Might start the wood project for me mother today. Maybe not though. It is Easter after all. The neighbor celebrated our Lord's resurrection by building a deck for his house. At least people have things in perspective. He also came over to borrow one of 4' pipe clamps. I was sitting in my sleep shorts when he knocked at the door.

#5 wasn't good in church this morning. He got to exit early and spend some time running around behind the glass wall. He enjoyed that.

#6 is doing well. He was perfect in church. Slept all the way through it.

Shout out to my other avid readers MIL (Nana), Natron (be sure and visit his site - now linked), SBG (I thought I had his site linked but I guess not), and the Butch (who is celebrating life now that he has risen from hell and now has retired - make room for that Lund boat that will soon be arriving). Feel free to add any improvements to it. New oil might not be a bad idea. I am not sure how old that crap is in the current oil tank. A new boat top might also be in order some day. Natron I am sure will help keep it in running condition.

Tool

Today I was out in the shop hooking up a vacuum to my Ridgid tool. I think this vacuum system should really help collect the micron particles that are blasted all over the shop after extended use of my Ridgid tool. The cleanup of the shop is such a chore after all the fun is done. Not anymore baby.

After the cleanup process I may have to lube my tool to keep it in good condition for many years to come.

You sick puppies get your mind out of the gutter. I was talking about my dust collector system.

Took #1 and #3 to Stations of the Cross tonight. Live and in living color performed by the youth of our church. Very good. #2 didn't make the trip due to attitude issues.

"Chakka woman chakka ape". I will occasionally put references of my youth in this blog. Certain people will understand these things.

Remember when Cornball stuck gum in Ape's hair on the swimbus? Classic. Two days in a row Ape had to have his hair cut to get it out. Apparently Ape's mom never heard about the ole peanut butter trick to remove gum from his hair. Two near bald spots in two days.
